A Birthday Party Fit for a Pirate

On Saturday, June 30th, Sissy and I headed to Annapolis, MD for Kennon's (and her sister, Jordon's) birthday party.  Kennon is one of Sissy's friends she met at school this year.  Since the beginning of school, Sissy has talked about Kennon and how much she loves playing with Kennon at school, so it was very exciting to receive an invitation to Kennon's 6th birthday party on the very last day of school.
This is the nicely decorated envelope that the invitation came in.

Sissy wanted to go so badly.  I RSVP'd for the party and we waited for the day to arrive.
Well, the day of the party also happened to be the day after the big storm we had.  So, on any other day it would be no problem to arrive at the birthday party on time, but we realized that morning that we needed to get gas in the car to make the hour trek over to Annapolis.  This morning in particular, it was a little more tricky to get gas as some gas stations were closed due to the power outage and the ones that were open had lines backed up onto the roads.  So, Jon finally found a gas station and filled up the car with gas.  He came back home around 11:45AM.  The invitation said that the party started at 12 noon (face painting and dress up) and that the pirate ship would leave at 12:30PM sharp!
I knew we would miss the face painting and dress up and I thought for sure we'd miss the boat, but I was praying the whole way there that we'd make it on time before the boat left the dock.... and we did, we made it on time!  Thank you, Lord! I knew how much (and for how long) Sissy was looking forward to this birthday party. It would be so sad to get all the way to Annapolis just to realize we were a few minutes late!
As soon as we got there, we hopped on the boat, it left the dock, and we were on our way!

Each of the children had their turn at grabbing a handful of treasure from the chest.

Sissy received some plastic coins and a few rings.

After we got off the pirate ship, we went into a little party room and enjoyed some birthday cake.

Sissy enjoying her cake and eating it, too.
It was a beautiful day to take a ride on a pirate ship and celebrate a good friend's birthday in Annapolis, MD on the Chesapeake Bay.
