Kindergarten Kingdom

This past Friday, June 1st, Buddy and I were invited to Sissy's school for a Writer's Celebration, which  was called Kindergarten Kingdom.
We were greeted at the door by one of her classmates dressed as a princess.
and given a program of the events.
The room was decorated beautifully with castles and tulle to make it look like a magical kingdom.
Sissy waiting her turn to go up and talk about what she learned in Kindergarten this year.
The kindergarteners all sat in the back of the room while the parents and other guests sat in chairs in front of them.
When it was a child's turn to go up and read what they had written about kindergarten, Mrs. B. would say, "I now command Prince/Princess ______ to read for us!" and she'd wave a wand.  The girls were  escorted by a 'prince,' one of the boys in the class, as they made their way to the front of the room.  (The princes walked up by themselves carrying a shield in front of them.)  Once the boy and girl  arrived, the boy would bow toward the girl, and the girl in turn would do a curtsey.  It was so adorable!
Sissy reading what she had written about her experience in Kindergarten.  This is what she had to say...

"Phonics helps us to read.  We learn from books.  We learn how to behave.  We learn how to be smart.  We help friends when they're hurt.  Mrs. B. is the queen bee.  I liked learning about continents.  I like the globe.  Martin had a dream."

When all the kids had read, Mrs. B. had a slideshow of several different pictures of the kids throughout the year.
After the slideshow, we all enjoyed some cake and punch.  The cake read, "Mrs. Bjorlykke's Kindergarten Kingdom.  And they all lived happily ever after."
Sissy helped pass out napkins along with one of the boys in her class.

He's so excited to go to Kindergarten this coming year!

We had a great time at the Kindergarten Kingdom and are so proud of our soon to be first grader!
