On Friday, May 4th, our friends Vicki and InShil came over and made a yummy taco dinner for our family before I left to go with them to run in a 5K race in Charlottesville, VA the next day.
We were all thankful for dinner and it was so good! We left around 7PM and arrived in Charlottesville around 9:30PM. We wanted to leave the night before since registration for the race was from 6AM-7AM. The race started at 8AM.
Once we signed in, we had the name of a girl in southeast Asia involved in sexual slavery written on our arm. The race, called Run 4 Their Lives (R4TL), was to raise awareness of human trafficking/sexually exploited women around the world. It was put on by the organization Freedom424. (www.freedom424.org)
The START...
and, for me, 41minutes and 45 seconds later, the FINISH!
After the race, we met up with a few more friends...
Here we are with our friend, Brittany after the race.
Myself and Christine
Christine founded Freedom424 after she went to Thailand in 2008. She witnessed first hand how these women were being bought into slavery. Men pay $24 to have a young women for 24 hours. So, when we give $24 (the cost to register for the race) to this organization, we are giving one woman 24 hrs of freedom!
Jon and I knew Christine when she was in high school and we were leaders in our youth group at church. She is now married, graduated from college, and has a passion to end human trafficking and reach these exploited women with the love of Christ!

I always enjoy my time with these ladies. We had a great time running for a great cause and just hanging out. We've done this now for the last 2 years and hope to make it an annual event... and maybe next year I can improve my time!
